Tennis Programs

Welcome to the 2008 season of tennis at Twin Oaks!

We are pleased to announce that Iva Gyurgina has joined our tennis staff for 2008 as Head Pro.  Iva will be offering clinics, group lessons and private lessons to players of all levels.

As always, the tennis season will officially open with the annual Scrambles on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. The Scrambles is a social doubles event for players of all levels, and a good opportunity for new members to meet other members. Once the season is underway, we will again offer a full range of singles, doubles and mixed doubles tournaments for men, women, couples and families.

Tennis Teams

Once again, Twin Oaks will be fielding teams in the Women's Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League (MITL) doubles league and the Men's Volvo League.

Women's Leagues

MITL is a competitive tennis league.  Tennis clubs, country clubs and swim & tennis clubs throughout Westchester are eligible to compete in this exciting and challenging multi-level league.

MITL has provided the women of Twin Oaks who have participated in the past, with an opportunity to improve their doubles play and perhaps most of all—have some real fun on the courts.

This year Twin Oaks will field a team at the advanced "B" level.   We need approximately 12 women to field a team.  Details are:

Matches

The team plays on Wednesday mornings.
The first matches begin in April and go until June.
Practice/coaching sessions are held at Twin Oaks on Monday, 9:30-11:00AM.  Practice will begin in April.

Anyone interested should contact Twin Oaks for more information. Call us at 914-238-3827.

Men's USTA Volvo League

This year the men will again field both a USTA Volvo 4.5 level tennis team and a 4.0 level team.  The teams will play matches against teams from other clubs from mid-May through June, on weekday evenings.

For the Kids

Twin Oaks younger members have the opportunity to improve their tennis skills in daily clinics and can get their competitive juices flowing in tennis team practices and matches.

Clinics: Our weekday afternoon tennis clinic program offers children of various skill levels an opportunity to work on their skills in a concentrated way, by meeting four days a week, for an hour each day, in small groups.  Each group is made up of children of comparable ages and ability levels.  The clinics run for six weeks, in two three week sessions.  The size of each group is limited, and the groups are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Sign up here, or feel free to stop by the tennis shack beginning Memorial Day weekend to sign up, or get more details.

Please note that this program is for older children, serious about learning proper tennis skills and improving existing skills.  The program is open to children 9 years or older, who are self-sufficient enough to handle this program.   Proper tennis attire (no running sneakers, tank tops or Bermuda shorts) is required.

Please also note that we cannot guarantee that a clinic appropriate for your child's tennis ability will be offered at the time suitable to your child's schedule.   All levels are not taught at all times.

Tennis Team offers children an opportunity to participate in organized,  match-play skill.  Practices are held four days a week, in the late morning.  Matches are played against other area clubs once each week in the afternoon.  There is no fee for participation on the tennis team.
